Limiting sugary foods and prioritizing whole foods such as fruits and vegetables may help reduce the frequency of seizures and improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy.
While epilepsy should not pose a barrier to sports participation, certain precautions and guidelines need to be observed. Restrictions apply to motor sports and flying. In diving, similar restrictions are applied as for safe driving, with those exclusively experiencing seizures while asleep for at least 3 years considered safe to drive or dive. Specific guidelines exist for some water sports to minimize the risk of drowning.
